What to expect

Note: The following information pertains primarily to our full consultations for chronic health concerns. Acute care consultations follow the same principles but are less extensive.

The primary role of an herbalist is as an educator and facilitator, supporting your goals of improved health and well-being. Even though we are trained in anatomy and physiology, we are not doctors and we do not diagnose nor directly treat disease. Rather, our job is to educate you about how to best enhance your body’s innate healing capacity, and to recommend herbs, supplements, and lifestyle changes that support that goal.

Holistic herbalism looks at the whole person, seeking to understand the energetic and physical patterns that account for a person’s experiences of health and dis-ease. This means that, for chronic health challenges, our consultations can easily last more than 1 hour, not including the time it takes to get your herbs together.

After our initial interview, you will be given a detailed list of recommendations. These can include herbs, supplements, dietary or lifestyle recommendations, and referrals to other practitioners. Usually you can expect to receive these recommendations, as well as any recommended herbs and supplements, immediately following the interview, but sometimes we will need additional time to formulate our recommendations.

For a remote consultation or if we need extra time, we will deliver your recommendations via email and your herbs will be available for pickup at our office.

All electronic client information is stored on encrypted servers and we use secure methods for all communications.
